Hours of Operation

Family Practice & Urgent Care Hours

In order to offer the best possible service to our patients, we have combined a full service Family Practice Center and an Urgent Care Center. This means that our Family Practice Center operates during regular working hours, and we function as an Urgent Care Center evenings, weekends and holidays. Since it is more expensive to operate outside of regular hours, we do add an extra charge for this Urgent Care service. Most health plans cover this extra fee. Any non-scheduled visit is considered Urgent Care service.

Hours:

Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Sunday, Noon until 3:00 p.m.
Holidays, call for hours.

Whenever possible, we ask that you make an appointment during regular hours by calling (757) 481-2333. Emergencies, of course, will be seen at any time. Should you be unable to keep an appointment, please call and cancel it as early as possible so that another patient may be given that time.

First Colonial Family Practice takes pride in the service we give to our patients. Our physicians make every effort to be available to their own patients, even when they do not have a scheduled appointment. However, should your physician be unavailable, another provider will be happy to see you.

After the Office is Closed

Since we have very extensive office hours, the need for calls when the office is closed should be minimal. However, should the need for such a call arise, we have a physician who can be reached through our Answering Service at (757) 481-2333. Since this physician does not have access to your medical records, he or she will not be able to refill any prescriptions, nor be best prepared to care for ongoing problems. Be sure to care for these matters during the regular working hours.

Emergencies

Immediately call 911. A fully equipped ambulance with well-trained volunteer rescue squadsmen and women will arrive within minutes to provide excellent medical life support and cardiac care. They will provide transportation to the nearest hospital emergency room. The emergency rooms are staffed with full-time physicians who will care for the emergency problem and contact us for further engagement of the patient.
