W. Jeffrey Charlton, M.D.
After attending First Colonial High School and Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Dr. Charlton received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He served his Internship at Riverside Hospital in Newport News and then completed his Residency at the First Colonial Family Practice Residency Training Program of the Medical College of Virginia. Upon completion of his Residency, Dr. Charlton joined First Colonial Family Practice as an associate. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice.
Joseph F. Killen, Jr., M.D.
After graduation from First Colonial High School, Dr. Killen attended Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. Dr. Killen completed his Internship at Riverside Hospital in Newport News and then completed two years of Family Practice Residency Training at the First Colonial Family Practice Residency Training Program of the Medical College of Virginia. After completion of his Residency, Dr. Killen joined First Colonial Family Practice as an associate. He is an Associate Professor of the Department of Community and Family Medicine of Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Killen is married to Donna and has two children. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice.
Bradley F. Tennant, M.D.
Dr. Tennant received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond after graduation from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. His Internship was spent at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, followed by his two year Family Practice Residency at the First Colonial Family Practice Residency Training Program of the Medical College of Virginia. Following his Residency, Dr. Tennant joined First Colonial Family Practice as an associate. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice.
H. Clayton Smith, Jr., M.D.
Dr. Smith received his B.A. in Biology from the University of Virginia. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Dr. Smith then completed his Internship at Riverside Hospital in Newport News and two years of Family Practice training at the First Colonial Family Practice Residency Training Program of the Medical College of Virginia. He joined First Colonial Family Practice as an associate in 1988. Dr. Smith is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice.

Thomas A. Samaras, M.D.
Having received his B.S. in Biology at Salisbury University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Dr. Samaras completed his Rotating Internship at Riverside Hospital in Newport News. He went on to continue his training by completing two years of Family Practice Residency Training at First Colonial Family Practice Residency Training Program of the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Samaras joined First Colonial Family Practice as an associate in 1993. He is an Associate Professor of the Department of Community and Family Medicine of Eastern Virginia Medical School. He is Certified by the American Board of Family Practice and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
George M. Bullard, Jr., M.D.
Born in Mebane, North Carolina, Dr. Bullard attended Elon College and East Carolina University School of Medicine. After graduation from Medical School, Dr. Bullard served his Internship at Riverside Hospital in Newport News and two years of Family Practice Residency Training at Riverside Family Practice Center, affiliated with the Medical College of Virginia. He joined First Colonial Family Practice as an associate in 1994. He is an Associate Professor of the Department of Community and Family Medicine of Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Bullard is certified by the American Board of Family Practice.
Thomas M. Jones, M.D.
Dr. Jones graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk. He went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. His Internship/Residency was accomplished at Portsmouth Family Medicine, an affiliate of Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine. He joined First Colonial Family Practice as an associate in 1996. Dr. Jones is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Practice.
Robert M. Woodard, M.D.
Having received his B.A. in Foreign Affairs at the University of Virginia and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Virginia, Dr. Woodard completed his Internship and Family Practice Residency Training at St. Margaret Hospital in Pittsburgh. He joined First Colonial Family Practice as an associate in 1999. He is an Associate Professor of the Department of Community and Family Medicine of Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Woodard is married to Lee, an Emergency Medicine physician, and they have three children. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice.

Katharine K. Malbon, PA-C
Katharine Karageorge Malbon was born in Virginia Beach and graduated from First Colonial High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Old Dominion University and graduated from the Master of Physician Assistant program at Eastern Virginia Medical School in May 2009. Katharine completed her clinical rotations in several different specialties including Family Medicine with Doctors on Call and Women’s Health with Total Care for Women, both in Virginia Beach. Katharine is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants as well as the Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants. She joined First Colonial Family Practice in 2009.
Karen U. Paradee, FNP-C
Karen U. Paradee graduated from Norfolk General School of Professional Nursing and became an R.N. in 1977. She practiced as an R.N. in various settings through the years including Critical Care, Patient Education, Long Term Care and Rehabilitative Care with an emphasis on Wound Care. She returned to school in 2005 at Hampton University where she received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing and her Masters in Nursing, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2008. Mrs. Paradee is a member of Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Virginia Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She joined First Colonial Family Practice in 2010.
